A look into my design process as a stained glass artist. I have been lucky to travel to Hawaii a few times in my life, and one of my favorite parts of each trip was discovering the local plant life. On a visit to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, I was especially intrigued by the Ohia Lehua trees, with their feathery red blossoms atop branches of densely overlapping leaves. I knew I should design a stained glass panel around them.

I am at once amused and annoyed that I need to use this icon again this year.
