چهار شوالیه که حالا دیگر به نزدیک شاهزاده زیباروی رسیده بودند افسارها را کشیدند و سرعت شان را کم کردند تا گرد و خاک بلند نشود. یکایک از اسب ها پایین آمدند و با حفظ فاصله مقابل شاهزاده زانو زدند. شوالیه ای که قامت بلندتری داشت و رنگ متفاوت جامه اش نشان از بلندپایگی مرتبتش می داد شمشیرش را از کمر باز نموده و نوک آن را در زمین فرو کرد. انحنای لبخند شاهزاده افزون شد.
