Random musings from Mount Florida in Glasgow . Friday, 13 January 2017. When Mungo met Merlin - a Glasgow story. On this feast day of Kentigern I am reminded of the story of his encounter with Lailoken, who is considered to be Myrddin Wyllt, the prototype and origin of the Merlin of Dark Age legend. This story is preserved in a 15th century manuscript which is likely to be a copy of an 11th century source recording an ealier tradition of events that took place in the 6th century.
