These two ceramic works of art appear to be done with a marbling technique. I think the artists used a variety of colored clay to create a marble design. I believe these two forms were created using a wheel to get a smooth and flawless appearance. This is something we could do in the studio, however, it would be difficult.
I made my lidded vessel on the wheel. Since it was my first time making a lid on the wheel I had some help with that. For glaze I used deep olive speckle under textured turquoise. I then put clear glass in the handle of the lid, this melted and was tinted a blueish green. This piece was probably fired in a kiln like the one we have here.

The end of the year is here, and with it come the most intense project. Something inspired by an well known artist. I was thinking of Monet, since he is my favorite painter. However, I wanted a challenging artist. Something fun and pretty too. So I chose Vincent Van Gogh, specifically his Starry Night, the most well known of his paintings.
