My father began writing his autobiography in the late 1980s. Undeterred, he continued revising it for years; the version that makes up this blog is dated 2007. When he died in March 2013, I found that people were moved by various snippets of his writing my mother and I shared. I thought, why not share the rest? To begin at the beginning.
