A blog about a nird who loves birds, and who happens to hail from PDX. I headed up to Powell Butte in mid-July, just in time to spot several juveniles not long out of the nest exploring the area.

This is a Olive-sided Flycatcher. I was surprised to discover when I flipped over the paper that this sketch is 20 years old. Another pen-and-ink from my scrap book. This is a Western Scrub-Jay. The coastal scrub-jay form is common throughout much of California.
