Wednesday, February 20, 2008. I have only read up to page 52. This book is very interesting. I am a little lost at times, but I really like the book and I have a hard time putting it down. I really liked the character of Clarisse. I think that she is very unique and interesting compared to the other characters. I am very confused about the mechanical hound? I can not think of what to write because I am more interested in finishing the book.

I want my father to call me. I am Gretal, age 13. I pretend my family all lived in the same house. I feel broken when I think ofhow life could have been. I touch the remnants of a family portrait taken when I was 3. I worry I will never find love. I am Gretal, age 13.

It is very compelling, a great story of redemption and the harsh reality of Afghanistan politically and socially. Some parts are a bit graphic, but thats all in the storytelling I suppose. After re-reading parts of the book as a refresher for class, I did some secondary source research for criticism of the Kite Runner. Monday, April 14, 2008.
