A wonderful weekend in the wilderness. We enjoyed walks by the lake, through the gently undulating farmland in the hills around Windemere, and more adventurous in the steep-snow-topped hills around Grasmere and Ambleside. Standing on the top of one of these hills, an icy wind in our ears and frozen lake at our feet, we felt far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life, and on top of the world.
