He was a resident of Luzerne county, Pa. , from 1840 to 1863. , of which he was captain two years, when he resigned on account of disability.

John P. Arndt

Wednesday, March 11, 2009. After his father death in October 1804 Arndt took full control of the milling, lumbering, merchandising, and other businesses, including the building of the Durham boats for the navigation of the Susquehanna. With continued success he built an addition of a hall and two spacious parlors onto tavern in 1812. By 1818 he sold the tavern to Thomas Morgan. He died at Green Bay, Wisconsin, June 11, 1861, age 80.
